Runaway RV - Man Accused Of DUI In Camper Crash

Local news from CT---- RV's never make our news around here--from wfsb.com in ct: Here is video link http://www.wfsb.com/video/17544672/index.html SOUTHINGTON, Conn. -- A Plainville man was charged with driving under the influence after police said he crashed his RV into a parked vehicle and light pole in Southington Tuesday night. Southington police said Michael Granger, 44, was driving eastbound on West Main Street when he crossed over into the westbound lane. Police said the RV then crashed into a parked vehicle before hitting a light pole in Plantsville Center. Man Arrested After RV Crash Granger is accused of then driving several miles up the road. Police said the collision caused another crash involving two other vehicles. Michael Baribalt, of Atlanta, said he was eating at a local restaurant when the RV crashed into his car. "We heard a smash," Baribalt said. "I'm glad it was a rental car." Granger was charged with evading responsibility, operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, failure to drive in the proper lane and driving under the influence. He was released on a $500 bond and is scheduled to appear in Bristol Superior Court on Oct. 6.

RE: Boondocking in Southeast Ct.

No boondocking in CT. And if anyone else says differently, I wanta know where.... If your traveling through and want a parking lot stay over, that's a little different....Not all but some WM and CB's will allow it. But it depends on the town. Depending on when you are going, RI charlsetown breachway is a nice place to go. Dirt parking about 30-40 ft from ocean (water on three sides). Must be self contained, etc. rvndogs.

RE: VT Campgrounds off of 91

Fort Dummer is pretty without hook ups, very private and away from it all even though it is so close to 91, but doesn't offer much else but hiking on the state land in the area. Going into town is nice, but won't want to stay long as you may get bored. What ever you do don't stay at this place which is actually in NH near 91 Ashuelot River Campground 152 Pine Street Swanzey, NH 03446 Here is the review: http://withthehounds.com/ReviewNHAshuelot.aspx rvndogs

RE: Need suggestions for base camp in Colorado

Mueller State Park in Divide. West of Colorado Springs on Hwy-24. Here's Some Pics of our site looking towards Pike's Peak. Most sites are wooded and not as open as this one. They only have Elec at each site with water spigots every few sites so bring 100' hose or jugs to fill up if you run short. Dump station also. They have a nice restroom and laundry with hot showers. Bring quarters, they do have change machine at laundry but its better to just bring a couple of rolls. Too funny, we are staying in site 041 this August. Thanks for posting the pics. rvndogs We were there last Sept. Someone on this forum recommended site 41 for the view. Most of the other sites are wooded and has nice views of trees. There is a water spigot about 70' from this site if you need to fill your tanks. As you can see site 41 is very sunny. Don't know if it is available but site 40 right next door has lots of shade and the same view. Jim Do you think that its too sunny for two big dogs and go pens in August? rvndogs

RE: Why Don't You Wave?

I always wave to fellow RVers, never could figure out why I never got a wave or knod back. Seems like you have to be in the right club... Fellow Jeepers wave. I guess I'll keep waving and just maybe I'll get a wave back every now and then again.... rvndogs

RE: Campground in Connecticut near I84

I would suggest doing a stay over at craker barrels. They usually allow for an overnight ater asking for permission. No hookups of course, but I love them to catch a nice dinner, sleep, breakfast and on we go. Let me know if you would like the locations off of 84 in CT, and one just over the line in Mass which is the better ones. The 84 strip doesn't have any camp grounds close by. Best to drive through ct rt 84 and hit mass. rvndogs

RE: Gieco RV Insurance

I have GIECO for all our vehicles. I haven't had to use them (knock on wood) so don't know about claims, but found it most cost effective for us. rvndogs

RE: Generator and TV question

We're new at the RV lifestyle, too. We have a 31' Gulfstream BT Cruiser and we have to have our generator running in order to run our TV/DVD. I thought that was a little strange, too, but that's how our vehicle works. Perhaps I'm missing something, too. I've started up the generator while the vehicle was already running. Don't know if this is the correct protocol, but nothing blew up...consider that a success. Have fun!! -Carmen We have a cruiser also. Purchased a 2500 inverter and switched over to 4 6v batteries. Best add-on investment. We love the ability to run coffee machine, tv, etc without having to run the generator while boondocking/dry camping. So far we have run the TV a total of 16 hours and still had 50% battery capacity and had coffee on for total of 3 hours. Testing to see whats our boondocking capacity is before we have to recharge. Inverter all the way... rvndogs

RE: Connecticut or Rhode Island Oceanfront Camping

http://www.riparks.com/charlesbreach.htm The breachway is a boondocking spot that has water on three sides. It has a rest room available but you must be self contained. It is a dirt parking lot with bumper to bumper RV's. We go there a lot because of the boating and ocean front. In fact going this Friday. check out burlingame http://www.riparks.com/burlgmcamp.htm as well. You will have a typical site and is close to the beach. rvndogs
